A free privacy tool for K–12 educators
Student Shield replaces student names and ID numbers with code names before you paste text into AI. It restores the names afterward—locally, in your own browser.
After you download
Your browser cannot automatically open a downloaded HTML file. These short steps keep the choice with you.
Choose Download Student-Shield.html above. Your browser saves the file to its Downloads folder.
Open your computer's Downloads folder and find Student-Shield.html.
Double-click the file, or right-click it and choose Open with, then select your preferred browser.
That's it. Once opened, Student Shield runs as a file on your computer. You can turn off Wi‑Fi and use the core tool normally.
Inside the downloaded tool
Student Shield's working area is deliberately simple: build a roster, shield the text you want to share, then restore an AI response locally.
Paste names, with optional ID numbers, and create private code names in the downloaded file.
Swap names and IDs for code names before you copy text to the AI tool you choose.
Paste the AI response back into Student Shield to bring the names back on your computer.
The Wi‑Fi-off check
The downloadable Student Shield file contains its own code and styling. Its core privacy functions do not load a website, call an API, or send roster or text data anywhere.
